Two weeks in...

semi-overcast

So two weeks have passed. Wow, where has that gone? It feels like I have been here for far longer but also for so little time too. It was only a few days ago in Seville that it dawned on me that I was actually here doing this after 6months of planning. Without doing this blog I have to say I would have no idea how many days have passed. Even the days of the week are blurry. Don't even get me started on dates..

I thought I'd have a quick look back at the last two weeks and bore your little socks off with some stats. (Stats are up til yesterday as it was just easier that way). So here goes:

Days riding: 11
Distance: 981.9km/ 610.1mi
Elevation: 12,363m/ 40,561ft
Time in the saddle: 46h 37m
Routes going to original plan: 0

Casualties: my hairbrush, one cleat protector, some voluntary losses to lower weight of bags, several caterpillars and bugs.

Gains: industrial strength ibroprufen, an addiction to rice pudding and caffeine.

Lessons learnt:
- eat lots. 2nd lunch is a must.
- morning coffee is essential
- don't fight with the bike. It will win.
- Nordics are awesome.
- keep mouth shut while riding or diet will be supplemented by bugs

Favourite moment on the bike:
Climbing El Torcal and Puerto de las Palomas.

Favourite moment off the bike:
Eating strawberries in a park in Seville and the Jerez horses.
